Skin does not behave the same in every climate. Changes in temperature and humidity can make it suddenly feel oily, dry, tight or dehydrated. This reaction is often stronger when travelling, especially by air, because the skin experiences an abrupt shift before it can adapt. Long days outdoors, pollution, sun exposure and disrupted routines can intensify the imbalance. Skincare that works perfectly at home may not work away, making climate-specific travel skincare essential for protecting skin during the journey.

Hot 35°C+

Extreme heat increases sweating, oiliness and water loss, so skin can become dehydrated surprisingly quickly. Humidity decides whether skin feels sticky and congested or dry and tight - from 80%+ tropical humidity to below 30% desert air.

Warm: 23–35°C

Warm weather makes skin more active, increasing perspiration and surface oil while hydration can quietly fall. Higher humidity calls for lighter, water-based hydration; lower humidity needs more moisture-sealing and barrier support.

Optimal: 18–23°C

Skin is generally at its most comfortable, with oil production and hydration easier to keep balanced. Humidity still matters: damp air can increase heaviness and buildup, while dry air gradually pulls water from the skin.

Cool: 12°C - 18°C

As temperatures fall, sweating and oiliness reduce and the skin begins to need more hydration and protection. Humid cool air may keep skin comfortable, while low humidity, wind and indoor heating can quickly create tightness and dryness.

Cold: 4°C - 12°C

Cold weather can reduce skin comfort and leave exposed areas such as the cheeks and lips increasingly dry and sensitive. The drier the air, the more important moisturising and barrier protection become; humid cold needs lighter protection than dry cold.

Freezing: Below 4°C

Freezing temperatures place significant stress on exposed skin, making dryness, roughness and sensitivity more likely. Humidity determines the intensity: damp cold needs protection from wind and exposure, while very dry freezing air requires rich hydration, sealing and barrier defence.
