HOW THIS CLIMATE AFFECTS YOUR SKIN & HAIR
We make things that work better and last longer. Our products solve real problems with clean design and honest materials.
This relatively balanced humidity allows many skin types to remain comfortable, although warmth, sunlight and several hours of sightseeing can still cause perspiration and dehydration. Skin may show slight T-zone shine while exposed areas gradually feel less fresh. A lightweight hydrating serum, comfortable lotion or gel-cream and broad-spectrum sunscreen are usually sufficient. Cleanse gently in the evening to remove sunscreen, sweat and pollution rather than aggressively stripping natural oils. Hair generally behaves well in this climate but can become sweaty at the roots or slightly dry from sun exposure. Use regular shampoo and conditioner, a light leave-in product when needed and protect the hair during prolonged sun exposure.
Humidity between 40% and 60% generally feels more balanced than tropical or desert conditions. However, a tourist spending four to five hours outdoors can still experience perspiration, sun exposure and dehydration, particularly when walking continuously without drinking enough water.
The skin may initially feel comfortable, but warm temperatures can gradually increase surface oil and perspiration. The forehead and nose may become shiny, while the cheeks remain normal or begin to feel slightly dry after repeated exposure to air-conditioning. Seasonal research shows that temperature, humidity and ultraviolet exposure can influence skin hydration, sebum, pH and transepidermal water loss.
The priority is to maintain the skin’s natural balance while protecting it from prolonged outdoor exposure. Choose:
A water-resistant sunscreen is particularly useful during prolonged outdoor activity or heavy sweating. No sunscreen is waterproof, so it still needs to be reapplied according to its label.
The ideal mantra for this weather is: Balance, Hydrate and Protect. This climate does not always require an extreme skincare adjustment, but the skin still benefits from consistent hydration, comfortable sun protection and gentle cleansing.
