HOW THIS CLIMATE AFFECTS YOUR SKIN & HAIR

(Coming Soon) Aegean Spring

We make things that work better and last longer. Our products solve real problems with clean design and honest materials.

With moderate humidity and cool temperatures, skin is likely to remain relatively balanced. However, sunlight, breeze and several hours of outdoor activity can still leave it mildly dehydrated, particularly when travellers forget to drink water. A simple routine works well: lightweight hydrating serum, comfortable lotion or cream and broad-spectrum sunscreen. Cleanse gently in the evening and add lip balm if windy conditions cause dryness. Hair usually behaves predictably in this climate, with relatively little humidity-induced frizz or extreme dryness. Maintain normal shampoo and conditioning habits, adding a light leave-in product only where necessary. Protect coloured or dry hair from prolonged sun and wind exposure.

Maintain, Hydrate and Protect

Temperatures between 12°C and 18°C with humidity between 40% and 60% generally create a comfortable environment for many skin types. The skin is less likely to feel persistently sweaty or extremely dry, making this one of the easier climates in which to maintain balance.

However, during a tourist trip, four to five hours of walking outdoors can still expose the skin to sunlight, breeze, sunscreen, pollution and changing indoor conditions. Travellers may also forget to drink water because the weather feels mild. The face may remain balanced for much of the day but begin to look dull or feel slightly tight by evening.

What may happen to your skin:

  • Generally balanced hydration: The skin may remain comfortable without excessive oiliness or dryness.
  • Mild dehydration after long outings: Limited water intake may leave the face looking tired or less supple.
  • Slight T-zone shine: Walking and physical activity can produce light perspiration around the forehead and nose.
  • Breeze-related tightness: Exposed cheeks and lips may become slightly dry.
  • Underestimated sun exposure: Cool temperatures do not prevent ultraviolet exposure during several hours outdoors.

The right approach:

The priority is to maintain the skin’s natural balance while providing dependable daily protection. Choose:

  • A lightweight hydrating serum containing glycerin, hyaluronic acid or panthenol
  • A light lotion or gel-cream appropriate for the individual skin type
  • Soothing or antioxidant ingredients where suitable
  • Gentle evening cleansing to remove sunscreen and environmental buildup
  • Broad-spectrum sunscreen in a comfortable lotion, fluid or cream-gel texture
  • Regular water intake throughout sightseeing and outdoor travel

Sunscreen remains important even when the temperature feels cool. Apply it as directed, reapply during prolonged exposure and use additional protection such as shade, sunglasses or a hat. The ideal mantra for this weather is: Maintain, Hydrate and Protect. The skin does not need dramatic correction in this balanced climate, but it still benefits from consistent hydration, gentle cleansing and sun protection.
