HOW THIS CLIMATE AFFECTS YOUR SKIN & HAIR

(Coming Soon) Temperate Rainforest

We make things that work better and last longer. Our products solve real problems with clean design and honest materials.

Cooler temperatures combined with very high humidity can leave the skin feeling comfortable but slightly damp or coated. Rain, mist, sunscreen and natural oils may remain on the surface, while indoor heating or air-conditioning can still make the cheeks feel dry. Use lightweight hydration, a breathable lotion and comfortable sunscreen rather than heavy creams. Cleanse gently after long outdoor exposure to remove accumulated products and environmental particles. Hair may absorb considerable atmospheric moisture, producing frizz, waves or loss of shape even though the scalp is not excessively oily. Use lightweight conditioner and anti-frizz leave-in products, and avoid overloading the hair with oils or thick masks in persistently damp weather.

Hydrate Lightly - Keep Skin Comfortable

Imagine spending four to five hours away from home, walking through forest trails, rainy streets or misty coastal surroundings. Because the temperature feels comfortable, travellers may not notice thirst or remember to drink enough water. Rain, mist and high atmospheric humidity may make the skin feel moist, but they do not replace the body’s need for water.

At humidity above 80%, sweat, skincare, sunscreen and environmental particles may remain on the skin for longer because evaporation is slower. The face may feel damp, slightly sticky or shiny, particularly around the forehead, nose and chin. At the same time, repeated movement into heated or air-conditioned interiors may leave the cheeks feeling tight. Environmental humidity affects how water is held within the skin’s outer layer, while sudden shifts from humid to dry surroundings can temporarily affect barrier function.

What may happen to your skin:

  • Persistent surface dampness: Rain, mist and slow evaporation may leave the face feeling moist or clammy.
  • Mild surface shine: Sebum, sunscreen and skincare can remain noticeable around the T-zone.
  • Dehydration may go unnoticed: Comfortable temperatures can reduce the urge to drink, even during several hours of walking.
  • Environmental buildup: Moisture may combine with sunscreen, makeup, dust and airborne particles.
  • Heavy products may feel coated: Rich creams and thick facial oils can feel unnecessary or uncomfortable in very high humidity.

The right approach:

The priority is to maintain hydration without creating a heavy or sticky layer. Choose:

  • A lightweight serum containing glycerin, hyaluronic acid, panthenol or beta-glucan
  • A breathable gel-lotion or light fluid emulsion
  • Soothing ingredients such as allantoin, centella or oat derivatives
  • Gentle evening cleansing to remove sunscreen and environmental buildup
  • Lightweight, broad-spectrum sunscreen in a fluid or lotion texture
  • Regular water intake during long walks and tourist activities

When rain, perspiration or outdoor activity is expected, choose water-resistant sunscreen and follow the reapplication directions on its label. Water-resistant products are tested for either 40 or 80 minutes of water exposure.

The ideal mantra for this weather is: Hydrate Lightly - Keep Skin Comfortable. Very humid air may reduce the need for rich creams, but the skin still benefits from water-based hydration and a light protective layer.
