HOW THIS CLIMATE AFFECTS YOUR SKIN & HAIR
We make things that work better and last longer. Our products solve real problems with clean design and honest materials.
Cool misty weather may make skin feel damp while reducing the sensation of thirst, so travellers can still become dehydrated during long days outside. Very high humidity slows evaporation and can leave sunscreen and skincare sitting noticeably on the skin. Use a lightweight hydrating serum, breathable lotion and water-resistant sunscreen when rain or mist is expected. Avoid overly heavy creams unless the skin is naturally dry, and cleanse gently in the evening. Hair commonly absorbs moisture and develops frizz, waves or limpness, while fine hair may lose volume. Use a lightweight conditioner and anti-frizz serum, focusing products on the lengths rather than the scalp to avoid a flat, coated appearance.
Imagine spending four to five hours away from home, walking through mist, light rain, coastal air or forest surroundings. Because the temperature feels cool and comfortable, you may not feel particularly thirsty and may forget to drink enough water. However, damp weather does not hydrate the body from within, and the skin can still become dehydrated during a long day outdoors.
At humidity above 80%, rain, mist and perspiration evaporate slowly. The face may remain damp or clammy, while sunscreen, makeup and skincare stay on the surface for longer. Oil and product buildup may become noticeable around the forehead, nose and chin, even though the cheeks can feel tight after moving into heated buildings, vehicles or hotel rooms. Environmental temperature and humidity can influence the skin barrier, and repeated movement between damp outdoor air and dry indoor heating may reduce skin comfort.
The priority is to keep the skin hydrated, clean and comfortable without creating a heavy surface layer. Choose:
If the face has been exposed to persistent rain or mist, gently pat it dry rather than repeatedly rubbing it. Reapply sunscreen according to its label, particularly after wiping the face or spending extended time outdoors. The ideal mantra for this weather is: Hydrate Lightly - Protect from Dampness. The skin needs water-based hydration and gentle protection, but rich, oily layers may feel unnecessarily heavy in cool, saturated air.
