HOW THIS CLIMATE AFFECTS YOUR SKIN & HAIR

(Coming Soon) Atlantic Summer

We make things that work better and last longer. Our products solve real problems with clean design and honest materials.

Cool, humid weather generally supports comfortable skin, but coastal wind, intermittent rain and indoor heating can create changing conditions throughout the day. The face may feel balanced outdoors and slightly tight around the cheeks after several hours inside. Use a hydrating serum, light lotion and broad-spectrum sunscreen, with lip balm for windy conditions. Cleanse gently rather than trying to remove every trace of natural oil. Hair can develop moderate frizz or lose shape in humid sea air, while wind may make the lengths tangled. Use regular conditioner and a lightweight smoothing leave-in product. Detangle gently, particularly after windy outdoor activities, and avoid unnecessarily rich oils around the scalp.

Balance, Comfort and Refresh

Cool Atlantic weather can include changing clouds, sea breeze, intermittent rain and periods of mild sunshine. During four to five hours of sightseeing, coastal walking or outdoor travel, the skin may be exposed to wind, moisture and repeated changes between outdoor air and heated interiors. Because the weather does not feel hot, travellers may drink less water than they normally would.

Humidity between 60% and 80% can help the skin feel comfortable initially, but physical activity may still create mild perspiration. The forehead and nose may develop slight shine, while wind and indoor heating leave the cheeks or lips feeling dry. Temperature, humidity, ultraviolet exposure and wind can combine to influence how hydrated and comfortable the skin feels.

What may happen to your skin:

  • Light perspiration during activity: Walking, carrying luggage or climbing hills may create sweat despite the cool temperature.
  • Mild T-zone shine: Sunscreen, skincare and surface oil may become noticeable around the forehead and nose.
  • Wind-related dryness: Coastal breeze may make the cheeks, lips and eye area feel less comfortable.
  • Changing hydration: Skin may feel moist outdoors but tight after entering heated buildings.
  • Gradual product buildup: Sunscreen, makeup and environmental particles may collect during a long day outside.

The right approach:

The priority is to preserve a comfortable moisture balance while protecting the skin from wind and changing environments. Choose:

  • A lightweight hydrating serum containing glycerin, hyaluronic acid or panthenol
  • A light lotion or gel-cream suitable for normal or combination skin
  • Soothing ingredients such as beta-glucan, allantoin or centella
  • A gentle, low-foaming cleanser at the end of the day
  • Broad-spectrum sunscreen in a comfortable fluid or lotion texture
  • Lip balm for windy walks or extended coastal exposure

When wearing water-resistant sunscreen or makeup, use micellar water or a lightweight cleansing oil first, followed by a mild facial cleanser. Avoid very hot water, harsh scrubbing and repeated washing, particularly when the cheeks already feel dry. The ideal mantra for this weather is: Balance, Comfort and Refresh. This climate normally needs moderate hydration rather than either an extremely light or very rich routine.
