HOW THIS CLIMATE AFFECTS YOUR SKIN & HAIR

(Coming Soon) Appalachian Forest

We make things that work better and last longer. Our products solve real problems with clean design and honest materials.

This climate is relatively gentle on skin, although humidity, physical activity and several hours outdoors can create mild perspiration and T-zone shine. Cheeks may remain comfortable outside but feel slightly tight after spending time in heated or air-conditioned interiors. Use a lightweight hydrating serum, lotion or gel-cream and everyday broad-spectrum sunscreen. Gentle evening cleansing is usually enough to remove sunscreen and environmental buildup without disturbing the barrier. Hair may develop moderate frizz or lose volume when humidity rises, while roots stay relatively balanced. A regular shampoo, lightweight conditioner and small amount of smoothing serum should be sufficient. Avoid unnecessary heavy treatments unless the hair is naturally dry or chemically damaged.

Balance Moisture - Keep Skin Fresh

Moderate temperatures and humidity between 60% and 80% may initially feel pleasant and comfortable. However, after four to five hours of hiking, sightseeing or travelling without enough water, the skin may still begin to feel tired or unevenly hydrated.

The forehead and nose may develop mild shine, especially during physical activity, while the cheeks remain normal or become slightly dry after time spent inside heated or air-conditioned buildings. Humid outdoor air, intermittent rain and changing indoor environments can create a cycle in which the skin moves repeatedly between dampness and dryness.

What may happen to your skin:

  • Light perspiration during activity: Walking, hiking or carrying luggage may create sweat even in moderate temperatures.
  • Mild T-zone shine: Sebum and sunscreen may become noticeable around the forehead and nose.
  • Uneven hydration: The central face may feel oily while the cheeks feel normal or slightly tight.
  • Product buildup: Sunscreen, makeup and environmental particles may collect gradually during the day.
  • Climate-transition discomfort: Moving between humid outdoors and dry indoor heating or air-conditioning may reduce skin comfort.

The right approach:

The priority is to preserve the skin’s balance without over-cleansing or applying excessive product. Choose:

  • A lightweight hydrating serum containing glycerin, hyaluronic acid or panthenol
  • A light lotion or gel-cream suitable for normal or combination skin
  • Niacinamide in a comfortable concentration for skin prone to shine
  • A mild, low-foaming cleanser at the end of the day
  • Broad-spectrum sunscreen in a lightweight lotion or fluid texture
  • Water at regular intervals, even when the weather does not feel hot

If water-resistant sunscreen or makeup has been worn, begin with micellar water or a light cleansing oil, then follow with a gentle facial cleanser. The ideal mantra for this weather is: Balance Moisture - Keep Skin Fresh. The skin generally needs moderate hydration, gentle cleansing and comfortable protection rather than either an extremely light or very rich routine.
